Every morning, after Otis came in from work, he’d wander out into the garden with his cup of tea to look at the tree. It had been in the garden for as long as he could remember, but his parents told him it started growing not long after his third birthday. They’d checked in all of the botany books they could, on the Internet, and still they had no idea what it was, so, now that it was close to flowering for the first time, they were all anxious to see what would happen next. Other people had posted in gardening forums about the unknown tree as well, talking about what it might be, all certain that it was growing because of the fae.

This story was written when North Square was a very different place – instead of being inhabited by a group of people, including Genevieve and her family, it was only inhabited by the last High Priestess of Hecate Genevieve, who was nearing the last days of her life. Aisling did her best to make North Square habitable alone, because she didn’t feel comfortable opening up to anyone but her family.
