In August I posted one free story, The Injection (LJ link), which is from my Post-Apocalypse Earth Collection.

I had one prompts day on the 13th of August and I received eight prompts from five people. From these prompts I wrote: Friends with Death (LJ link) for my Afterlife Collection; Trust (LJ link) for my Aurora's World collection; The Beginning of the House (LJ link) and A Conversation with Morgan (LJ link) for my Donor House Collection; Cough Medicine (LJ link) and Energy Healing (LJ link) for my Magi Collection; Waterfalls in Early Autumn (LJ link) for my Deities Collection; and Moon Dance (LJ link) for my Thear Collection. These stories are also available in a free ebook.

Character adoption (LJ link) was made available. No one has yet adopted a character.

Neither of the random stories received any comments so they haven't yet been continued. Lena's story (LJ link) is a fantasy with another world that connects to Earth via doorways with door guardians and Erin's story (LJ link) is a story about shapeshifters. If you wish to see either story continued then please comment.

No stories were sponsored and I received no donations. As there were no donations no one won the free story for donations and no one named any characters or permanent structures.

The winner of the August free story for signal boosting was: [personal profile] unico_love. Thanks to all those who also signal boosted. Next month there will be another chance to win so please signal boost if you'd like to win a story.

The winner of August's surprise draw was: [personal profile] meeks. This month the prize was three months character adoption at the second level so they will receive one story on their chosen character of between 2000 and 3000 words each month. Next month there will be another chance to win a surprise gift so please get involved with my work.

Plans for September include: one definite prompt day on the 1st and one possible on the autumn equinox; one free story posted, also on the 1st; and mystery story week from the 12th to the 17th.

Very few humans ever found an entrance to the fae school. When they did it was seen as a great achievement and they were automatically accepted for training. Some of the older fae didn't think that any human should ever be accepted into the fae school so they did all they could to make sure that all the entrances stayed hidden. It didn't always work. Occasionally the increased protection actually helped a human find an entrance. Tamara was one of those humans.

This is my first idea for the continuation of 'the Beginning of the Donor House' for [livejournal.com profile] ysabetwordsmith.

Nick knew that Alice had heard what they were talking about when she walked into the room, carrying another bottle of whiskey. She glanced at him, not giving him enough chance to read exactly what she was feeling but he knew that she wasn't happy, before setting the bottle gently down on the table. If it hadn't been for Issac taking hold of her hand as she turned to leave the room he knew he would never have known what she was thinking. Even after thirty years she still hadn't forgiven Nick and he didn't blame her.

This is my second idea for the continuation of 'The Beginning of the Donor House' for [personal profile] ysabetwordsmith.

Issac's smile turned to a frown. Nick knew that he'd thought of something that would put a potential spanner in the works, and that worried him. For the donor house to work he needed Issac as a partner. Issac was one of the oldest vampires he knew, even though he wasn't sure how old, and he had a lot of influence when it come to other vampires. In comparison Nick was young because he'd been turned in the 1500s, so he didn't have much influence with the older vampires.

Based on the prompt 'How do they deal with worship and expectations from their devotees?' from [livejournal.com profile] ysabetwordsmith.

Archimedes had learnt how to cope with the expectations of his people, and even the different ways he could be worshipped, but it wasn't until he actually started his time as a Winter deity that he understood how difficult it really was. He could hear all the wishes of the people who had chosen him as their deity, some of them much stronger than the others, and he couldn't help wondering whether tossing a coin would make the decisions he had to make easier. Sighing, he leant his head on the table.

Based on the prompt 'One of the hard things about adjusting to the afterlife, if you still have your most recent life's memories, is letting go. I'd like a story exploring that.' from [livejournal.com profile] ysabetwordsmith.

Nathan knew he needed to move on. Everyone else had, so it was just him clinging onto what had been and Aras, his spirit guide, had slowly been reducing the time he was permitted to spend watching the family he'd left behind. When he'd first died, he hated thinking that word but that was what he'd done and he needed to get used to it, he'd spent all his time watching his wife and children. He'd spent three Earth weeks continously watching them live their lives, including witnessing his own funeral. Then Aras had walked into his house and told him that he was wasting his afterlife. Nathan had laughed at him. Watching his family was the only thing he could imagine doing.

Based on the prompt 'a mermaid' from [personal profile] forgottenspirits. Thank you very much for the donation.

Naida, by fae law, was defined as a mermaid, because one of her parents, her father, was a merperson. Genetically she was much more fae than she was mermaid. She didn't have a tail, but both her legs and feet were covered in scales that needed to be regularly washed with salt water otherwise they'd become dry and sore. Having scales on her feet meant that she couldn't wear shoes as they were too uncomfortable. It was impossible for her to spend any length of time underwater as she hadn't inherited her father's merlungs. That was what Naida called them because he didn't have gills and yet he could still breathe normally underwater as well as above the water. At school she'd been taught it was some form of magic that gave them the ability but it wasn't a teachable magic.

Based in the prompt 'becoming Death' from [personal profile] meeks.

Richard walked into the room, looking carefully at each member of the spirit council. There were eight of them in total, four feminine and four masculine. Normally they only called someone in to talk to them if the council was going to give the spirit in question a job in the afterlife. His spirit guide had told him that he would be spending a long time in the afterlife so he had been expecting the coucil to call him in. No one spent a long time in the afterlife without a job. It was a part of the learning experience.
