Willow had opened the door at midnight on the day when the boundaries between their world and Earth were at their weakest, because it meant that creating it used less magic than it would have done on any other day, and fortunately the Princess wasn’t stupid. Theo was the first to step through it, as one of the twin Kings of the cat shifters, while Tybalt had stayed behind, making sure that everything ran smoothly on Kalinia. As they only had six hours to get everyone through, before the dogs took over, it was important that it all went as planned – and with cats getting anything to go as planned could be difficult, but Theo knew the realisation was beginning to set in. Kalinia was fading fast. With Willow’s fae gone they’d have a little extra time. With Willow gone they had no other chance of getting to safety, unless they did what the griffins did and went hunting for a door, and it seemed unlikely they’d find one because they didn’t have the ability to feel magic.

Written for [livejournal.com profile] rhodielady_47's prompt on doorways to faerieland.

Alder spent most of his free time looking for places that the fae could move to, if the council ever made the right decision. They wouldn't listen to him because he was young and, as far as they were concerned, was not a proper council member. None of them seemed to realise why someone so young was on the council. It seemed utterly illogical to Alder. A teenager would only ever become the head of a family if something serious had gone wrong with that family. Sighing, he tried not to think of what had happened and just focus on finding somewhere.

Written for [personal profile] forgottenspirits's prompt about the Acalica, a group of Bolivian weather fae.

Frost was busy plaiting Hail's hair when Rain walked in. As usual after a rainstorm Rain's plait had come undone and her long hair was only being tamed by the water. Sometimes she wondered whether she should cut her hair, but she knew she'd miss it if she did. Her hair had been long ever since they had chosen to become weather fae in the hope that they would all be kept together. That had been before they'd had to leave their old home, so it held a lot of memories. Not all the memories were good, especially those from before the move, but that didn't mean she wanted to get rid of them.

Written for [livejournal.com profile] siege's prompt 'a door that's always ajar'.

It was stupid. Even after a hundred years on Earth Willow still kept the door ajar. She couldn't bring herself to close it entirely because she still thought of the world they left behind as her home. Earth was a beautiful planet in its own way and she did love it, but it didn't feel the same. When she looked through she hoped that maybe it would have gone back to the way it was before they had destroyed it. A tear trickled down her cheek as she thought of the mistakes they had made and why it was so important that they never made them again.

Written for [livejournal.com profile] ellenmillion's prompt 'a princess who doesn't want to wait to be rescued'.

Willow strode through the corridors, trying not to let her anger get the better of her. She was fed up with being kept away from meetings simply because they couldn't get used to having a woman in control. When she got to the double doors there were two guards but neither of them made a move to stop her. After taking a moment to calm herself, which didn't work that well due to the fury she felt, she pushed open both of the doors. The entire room went silent as they slammed against the walls. Standing in the doorway she looked at each member of the council, wondering whether it was time they all retired so she could put people in their places who would actually listen to her.
