Part 1
Part 2

Idwal hadn’t expected to be giving an impromptu history lesson, but it wasn’t exactly a surprise. He looked around the room at the fae he had chosen, wondering what they’d been taught by their parents and mentors, because they knew so much less that he did. Part of that was due to Sabia and her dreams… he wanted her to be gone and yet he couldn’t bring himself to convince her to leave. Not having her by his side would be so strange, as they’d been together for years, ever since she left her family for him, but he knew he would end up losing her for good if he didn’t make it happen soon. Unfortunately she had too much magic to be able to survive on Kalinia once the magic of the world faded to a certain level, something that she had passed on to their children as well, although that was something that he was to blame for as well, as his family also had strong magic, otherwise he wouldn’t be the King.

“We are lucky to have survived this long,” Idwal started, turning his attention away from the woman he loved and back to the room full of people. “Our race was created millennia ago, but that’s something no one knows, because we weren’t meant to. Sabia has the ability to see back that far, although not by choice, so she has seen the beginning of our race, she has seen the time we struggled to survive, she has seen us destroy two worlds, and Kalinia will be the third. I wish we’d never done any of that, but there is nothing I can do to change that. We cannot go back that far. However we can go back far enough to be able to change Kalinia and change Earth. The problem we have though…”

“The changes we make won’t affect this Kalinia,” the female at the back said, “so we wouldn’t be helping the fae here, but we can help them by changing Earth.”

“Should we, though?” a male asked, and Idwal realised he really needed to learn the names of the people he was working with. Even though he knew what they were he didn’t know which name belonged to which person, which was really quite irritating. “If we have already destroyed two worlds, and we’re in the process of destroying Kalinia, is sending some of the fae to Earth really a valid option?”

“Yes, we should.” Idwal did truly believe that. “On Earth the fae won’t be able to do the same sort of damage, because they’re going to have to learn to work with the race that’s already there, and the humans aren’t the sort of people to give in without a fight if the fae were to try to get rid of them. I doubt they would, though, as the people who will be taking them there know that the humans have the ability to transform the magic that we use into magic that can refill the magical core of the world.”
