[sticky entry] Sticky: More about me

Okay, it's past time I edited the sticky post. I wrote this when I started my Dreamwidth journal and I've had it for, I think, two years. I don't know exactly how long ago it was, but it was a long long time ago, and I've changed a lot recently. Life has changed a lot recently. I'm not going to skip around saying everything is perfect, because I don't believe in perfect, but I'm happy and for the first time in my life I feel like I have a base.

The ten things under the cut are also newly edited.

*

Ten things about me... )

*

It would have been easier for me to write more than ten because I know I missed some things out but I think I've put down some of the most important things. If you've read this and still want to get to know me thna just add me. I'll add most people back as long as I feel we have something in common, whether that be a love for Midna or an interest in paganism.

All the 'In Depth' posts were written in 2014, so they need some editing, but for now I'm posting them as they are. There may be spoilers ahead.

Originally written in 2014, this post does talk about a collection I haven't done much work on at all recently and doesn't mention some of the newer things I've been working on. It will be updated at some point in the future, but, for now, I'm going to post it as it is.

I've chosen to start off by reposting the serial in it's new form, before moving onto the new parts. This is the second book, and I'll be aiming to post one book each day until they've all been posted, so I can start off with a new part next Tuesday.

Begin with Book 1.

In the same way I've changed how I look at the way I write I'm going to change the way I look at my income from the website. For the next six months, while I'm focusing on getting stories I've started finished, my financial goal is to earn £20 (approx $30) a month from 5 of my collections. Both the Fae World and the World Walkers have been split into worlds, to make it easier to read the stories which also means it's easy to buy a story for a favourite world.

£20 a month is two new stories, for your favourite collection. You can pick a favourite setting (eg. the Fae School, or the Thieves' Hideout), a favourite race (eg. the Nox Gadael, or the Carne), or a favourite character (eg. Alice from the Donor House, or Kestrel from Heliopath's World).

The first Weaver had failed. It wasn’t unexpected, even though Eithne had hoped for a better result, because they’d been forced to leave behind all the records. No one in living memory had created anything more than an animal and to get from there to a sentient humanoid was a step they didn’t know how to take. She didn’t know if the records would have helped as the majority of the experiments had been failures. At the very least she would know what not to replicate. Four experiments had been successful, although the results hadn’t been what was expected, which was the way magic often worked.

When Nate asked me for help the last thing I was expected was for the two of us to end up at a fancy ball. Normally when he asked for help I’d find myself covered in mud, blood, and a lot of nastiness I really don’t much like thinking about. As he made certain the mask he’d bought me was on tightly I studied him. He seemed more tightly wound than he ever had done before, which was worrying. Even at the goriest of jobs he was laid back about it all, often joking about whatever ended up in my hair, so his quiet perfectionism was something I didn’t much like. I could have asked him what the problem was. Maybe I should have done, but I didn’t want to make things harder for them than they already were. Instead I double checked that his tie was straight and his mask was comfortable.

As it's the end of the month I'm doing the weekly links a little late in order to include the stories from the last two days of the month. From tomorrow I'll be switching to my new posting schedule.

The Fae World: Eorith: Luke: The First Arrival - repost, next part a work in progress

The World Walkers: Athare/Kankirin: Tanis: Escaping - repost, next part a work in progress

The Fae World: Earth: Tamara: The Dorm - repost, next part a work in progress

Aurora's World: Atecia: Opal: Talking to Margery - completed, repost, next part a work in progress

The World Walkers: Illiria: Kalena: Returning - repost, next part a work in progress

The Fae World: Earth: Claire: Inheriting a Hotel - repost, next part a work in progress

Donor House: Orestes: Stepping Into the Donor House - repost, next part a work in progress

The Fae World: Earth: Adrian: The Coffee Shop - completed, repost, next part a work in progress

Kim's Earth: Louisa: Meeting Edward - new story, next part a work in progress

If you've enjoyed reading then please share wherever you can, and you can use the tip jar to show your appreciation if you so wish. Please remember than all new stories, which will be at least 2,500 words, are £10 each, or you can sponsor a collection, setting, race, or character here. No matter how little you can give everything does make a difference and hopefully will lead to me being able to do less ghostwriting.

The knock was unexpected to say the least. If it was someone who’d come looking for another house to ransack it was far more likely they’d have just broken in. As I stared at the door, wondering if I was stupid enough to answer it, the letterbox opened. “Is anyone there?” The voice was male, and I was almost certain I recognised it. “I need help.” Everyone did after what had happened, so that wasn’t going to make me do anything I might end up regretting. “I’m looking for someone to talk to.” He sounded almost like he was about to start crying. “Please, if you’re in there, all I want is a friend.”

To begin with Adrian stood, looking through the window of the coffee shop. It was well known as the place where humans with fae magic went if they hadn’t got into the school and from what he could see he was beginning to think the elders really had made a huge mistake. He’d already been certain it was a mistake - he just hadn’t know quite how bad it truly was. At least three people had real wings, not just glamoured ones, there were more people with shapeshifter blood in there than he’d ever seen before, and, thanks to his cousin Naida, he could see someone who was half-mer too. Sighing, he dropped his glamour, knowing it was how it would be accepted, before using a lightly shaking hand to open the door.
