As I said yesterday I thrive on comments. It makes writing so much more enjoyable for me, so, in an attempt to regain something I feel I've lost, I'm going to have a competition running for the rest of the month. The three people who leave the most comments will get a prize. What those prizes will be will depend on the number of comments I receive in total, which means the more comments I get the longer the prize. Starting here makes the most sense, because that will then lead you to the stories, and it will be easy enough to go from one part to the next - and the best thing you can do is assume whatever you're reading is unfinished. However commenting on unfinished stories will speed me up, because I'll know people want to read them.

The only two untidy collections are the World Walkers and the Donor House, so I'm going to get that sorted in the next week, to make it easier for anyone who might want to read those stories.

In return for reviews (that seriously is all I want) I'm giving away all my newly written stories of 5,000 and 10,000 words and all my trilogies of 5,000 and 10,000 words. They can be found here. I'm happy to write in my worlds or in your worlds (so make sure you pick the right one). What you need to do is pay using 'other'. Once the stories are written I will be making them available for sale at the shop, if they're in my worlds, to make some passive income, but at the moment I need to find a way of carving out time to do this - and a giveaway is going to kill two birds with one stone. I'll have new reviews and I'll have an excuse to write in the worlds I love.

That's also why I've been putting up some old work at Patreon. If I can hit my first goal it does give me the freedom to do what I love doing more, instead of always ghostwritng, so if you even have a dollar a month to help me out I would really appreciate it.

Enter for a chance to win a story bundle, character adoption, or setting rental.

Due to a lack of entries it will last for another week. I would like to be able to give out all of the prizes. :)

I need at least seven entries, as I'm giving away seven prizes, and the easiest way to enter is to simply like my Facebook page. You can get more entries for leaving comments at the website, because Comments are Love, and for getting involved, as I really would love to have more reader involvement. My aim, for the future, is for all of my worlds to be shared, due to my location - I'm based in the UK, so I write about the places I know for any of my Earth based work and I would really love to have writers all over the world, as well as having other writers for the fantasy worlds I've created, partly because I don't think I'll ever be able to fill all the worlds of the Web by myself.

Why do I keep doing giveaways? Well, it's a good way to get writing, and once these stories are written they'll go on the sponsorable stories list, they'll go in the collection ebooks, and they'll be sold by themselves as bundles, so they will, in time, make money. Having someone tell me what they want to see really does help, as do prompts (some of the time), so that's why I do these giveaways. I do need to update the sponsorable stories list, because there are a number of stories not on there and update the donor perks to include the ebook perk, although I might not do that until I have all of the ebooks available.

A couple of days ago I made my first ebook sale, which makes me very happy. I'd like to get a couple of sponsorships set up, just because that means I have definite money coming in every month, and I've been talking with someone who might become my first sponsor. The idea is still to earn enough by the end of May to be able to pay for James' registration fee, but, due to his uncertainty about which course he wants to do I should have a bit extra time. He's going to have a look at some of the free courses online, to see which he thinks will work best for him, and then we'll go from there. At the moment, though, he's pulled his back, again, so he's in more discomfort than usual and every time he moved wrong yesterday he felt worse, and, of course, there wasn't much I could do to help.

I've set up a giveaway on Facebook, as another experiment, to see what happens. I have seven prizes - one 12 story Story Bundle, two 4000 word six month adoptions/rentals, and four 4000 word six month adoption/rentals. I'd really appreciate it if people could enter and the system I'm using allows people to log in via their email address, so I hope non-Facebook people can enter too.

Giveaway

I've been running a giveaway at my writing site and as I added some new people at Dreamwidth I thought I'd post it here to see if I'd get some interest.

I'd like to offer free character adoptions and setting rentals to anyone who's interested, even if you've already had a freebie (although I'd prefer it if you could go for a different character or setting than you had before), and if you signal boost this offer publicly or to someone you think might be interested you can double the word count, add another character/setting, or get a second adoption/rental (to start at the end of the first) - just tell them to let me know who it was that sent them.

The basic freebie is either a 1 character adoption of 2000 words running for six months or a 1 setting rental of 2000 words running for six months. With the boosting bonus it is possible to go up to the top offer for both of the adoption (3 characters, 4000 words a month, for six months) or the rental (3 settings, 6000 words a month, for six months). Plus, taking part in any giveaway will mean you can get a purchased adoption or rental for half price.

Ever since I started crowdfunding I’ve tried to be a little different to the rest. The market I entered is competitive, so if I want to earn a living I know that I need to be. Fortunately I’ve been lucky enough to find myself helping out with the doggy day care that my landlords run, which means that I can take my time once more to get people interested in what I do, rather than being total focused on trying to make my website profitable right now. (James has his CT scan on the 29th and should get his results on the 6th of September, which might mean we find out more about what’s causing his painful medical issue or it could be utterly pointless. With all these tests I feel very lucky that the NHS does exist, even though it isn’t perfect, because I dread to think how much all the tests, appointments, and pills would have cost in the US.)

With my new aim in mind I’d like to offer free character adoptions and setting rentals to anyone who’s interested, even if you’ve already had a freebie (although I’d prefer it if you could go for a different character or setting than you had before), and if you signal boost this offer publicly or to someone you think might be interested you can double the word count, add another character/setting, or get a second adoption/rental (to start at the end of the first) – just tell them to let me know who it was that sent them.

One new thing I'm doing this year with my writing is the monthly raffle. Entering it can be done in multiple ways and every entry add more words to the final prize. The word count starts at 5000 words. Enter by commenting on any piece of fiction, which adds 100 words to the word count; enter by linking to any piece of fiction, which adds 250 words to the word count, and this month because I'd love more retweets, shares, and reblogs I'm adding an extra 50 words for every one; and enter using credits to add 500 words to the word count. Then I have bonus prizes if I get a specific number of entrants.

My website is here and then I have mirrors at DW and LJ: [personal profile] kajones_writing and [livejournal.com profile] kajones_writing.

Then I'm also giving away setting rentals and character adoptions. I had three of each, but one of the character adoptions had been taken, so now I have two of them and three rentals still available. What you get is a story emailed to you every month for four months, of at least 2000 words (unless you want to get two 1000 words stories a month), about the character or setting of your choice. If you'd like to try this out and haven't already adopted a character or rented a setting then let me know. If I get enough interest I may add more to the current giveaway or do another in a few months.

With Easter coming up I’ve decided to have a giveaway. One of my favourite creations is both the character adoptions and setting rentals, so I’d love to make them a reader favourite too. This is for anyone who hasn’t either rented a setting or adopted a character, in an attempt to interest more people in it, but if you’ve previously rented or adopted and would like to help in this endeavour please recommend a friend.

I have three character adoptions and three setting rentals available. Both the rentals and adoptions will be for four months, will be for one character or setting, and the word count for each month will be 2000 words. For more information on the adoptions and rentals check the links out, although those of you who have rented before will see that I’ve changed the word counts for the rentals.
