A character can be adopted by one person at a time for up to six months. You may not adopt this character again for six months after the original adoption. At the time of the adoption you will receive an adoption certificate via email. More than one character can be adopted at a time, with the top limit being three per adopter, and you will receive a certificate for each character. These can be characters in the same collection or in different collections.

For each month you adopt the character you will also receive a PDF copy of one or more stories, depending on how much is donated at the time of the adoption, with the minimum donation currently being £3. A donation of £3 will get you a one month adoption with between 1000 and 2000 words written about your adopted character, which may be a whole story or just part of one. Then the story will be available for sponsorship and once it has become sponsored it will become free to read online. The top limit is currently between 4000 and 5000 words per month with the top donation for one charactcter being £49 for six months but this limit may increase.

To adopt two characters for a month £5 is the minimum donation and to adopt three for month the minimum donation is £7. For this you will receive 1000 words written about each of your adopted characters. The top donation for two characters is £97, which will get you between 4000 and 5000 words a month for six months per character, and the top donation for three characters is £145, which will also get you between 4000 and 5000 words a month for six months per character.

There are several donation amounts that will give you a choice as to the number of characters you wish to adopt, but you will receive around the same amount of words as someone who has given the same donation no matter what choice you make. For example, if you were to donate £5 you would have three choices: one character for one month and a 2000 to 3000 word story; one character for two months and a 1000 to 2000 words story per month; or two characters for one months and one 1000 to 2000 word story per character. The current donation amount with the most choice is £25 with eight possible configurations but at all times you will receive a total of 12,000 words on the character or characters you have chosen.

Paying in installments is available for everyone who adopts for more than one month. So if you chose to adopt one character for three months you can have a three month payment schedule. This will be decided at the time of the adoption.

The stories written will be my choice, unless you have PMed or emailed me at the time of the adoption to give me some idea of what you would like written. Stories be AU, especially in the case of deceased characters, a crossover, or a canon story about the character in a certain situation or interacting with a specific character/characters.

A full list of all donation amounts is here (LJ Link).
A full list of all adoptable characters is here (LJ Link).

All normal donation perks are available when adopting.

In the past few days I've been thinking a lot about what I'm doing. Creative writing is, and always has been, the only thing that I'm particularly good at. When I was at school I was in the highest set for everything but I knew that in most of the subjects I was mediocre at best. That never really bothered me too much. It was when I get a chance to write a story, or something that I could create from my mind (like an interview I wrote in year 8 at school, in which I was talking to the lead singer of Def Leppard who I've never met before and don't think I eve will - I wish I still had a copy of it) that I got the high marks. For my examined 'short' story (16 A4 pages, one sided) I got an A* (I lost that as well) and my story from the point of view of a cat was said to be one of the most empathetic things my teacher ever read. Now it's the thing I want to be able to spend the rest of my life doing - because I am a writer. It's not that I want to be or that it's something to aim for, because it's what I am, was and always will be.

Anyway I've gone totally off topic, but never mind. By the end of the week I'm going to have my newest idea fully set up - it's pretty much ready now but I want to check over a few things, just to make sure I haven't written anything stupid. :) It's character adoption, which is something I was thinking about setting up right from the beginning, and I think I'm going to do this instead of commissions. I may also do commissions once every couple of months or something but I'll wait and see how this goes first. For a donation of anything between £3 and £145 you may adopt one, two of three characters, for up to six months. Every adopter will receive an adoption certificate, which isn't going to be great to begin with because I'm making them online using one of those school certificate creator things, and at least one story on the character they adopted. The story will be for their eyes only until it has been sponsored. A character can only be adopted by one person at a time so make sure you have a back-up character in case the one you wanted is gone.

I'm also going to make changes to my permanent prompts page. If I write a story based on a prompt then the prompter will receive a copy of the story, which will be for their eyes only. From the beginning of next week I'm also going to give anyone who finds a typo in one of my stories either one month's adoption for free or the chance to have a story written based on a prompt of their, whether they've posted it on my prompts page or not.

That's all for now. Look out for the character adoption pages going up, probably Friday or Saturday, if you're interested. Anyone who has an idea of a character they would like to adopt and would like to reserve them before that day then let me know. The names are all posted on the landing pages.
