March was a month of two halves really. At the beginning of the month I was doing pretty well, making plans for the future, and doing some much needed admin work (which is still the hardest part of this whole thing). Then I got hit with a couple of weeks of bad insomnia. I semi-permanently have insomnia, but when it gets bad I know it. Towards the end of the month things were getting better and then my netbook died. I managed to get everything done that I needed to get done, thanks to my partner loaning me his laptop until my new netbook arrives (hopefully that will happen Tuesday/Wednesday this week, because Easter made things slow), but changing keyboards is never easy. I have to move my hands around this one a lot more, the keys keep moving, and they need much more force that my one did. I’m grateful I have it, but at the same time it will be nice to have a more comfortable keyboard.

I missed another day of the 365 stories, so I posted two the next days, but hopefully that won’t be happening any more. Every update for the Case of the Counterfeit Enchantments went up, even though I was worried I might miss a couple after my netbook died.

Fiction posted:The Case of the Counterfeit Enchantments: part 8, third continuation; part 8, fourth continuation; part 8, fifth continuation; part 8, sixth continuation; part 8, seventh continuation; part 8, eighth continuation; part 8, ninth continuation; and part 8, tenth continuation.
Side Story: Kaito: Running (with this story I’m experimenting with a donation for continuation model, so donate £1.50 and get 1000 more words of this story).

Plans for April: April is new character month, so this month’s story posts will all be about a new character, and if you have any collections or races you’d like to see characters for let me know (eg. one new character for Aurora’s World or a new Alati Felis character); work on the wiki, focusing on character profiles; post collections to Muse’s Success once I’ve updated the landing pages; create a prompted stories page and continue working on prompted stories (some prompts are easier to work with than others, which is why it can take me more time to write the stories for them, but I do write stories for every prompt I receive during prompt sessions); continue posting the Case of the Counterfeit Enchantments; and do the credit count (although I curently don’t have access to my file I should be able to update without it… I hope).

Aims for April: Make Money. Write more words. Basically just keep doing what I’ve been doing and hope that I get some income, because I need grocery money.

February was a more difficult month for me, even though I was still working well with James’ shift pattern. Every month that gets a little easier. At the beginning of the month James had some time off that I was planning on using to write, but that ended up not working out, and then I picked up the cold that he had. It still hasn’t fully gone even now, but it is a lot better than it was. That means, although I worked on my back-log, I’m nowhere near as far through it as I hoped to be and nothing else I planned on doing really worked out the way I hoped it would. However I did manage to do some things I hadn’t planned on doing, like started working on the wiki I’ve set up and wrote a couple of meta-conversations.

This month I missed one day of my 365 stories, but I didn’t miss a posting of the Case of the Counterfeit Enchantments, so for how I was feeling at some points during the month, especially on the days when I was having trouble breathing, I think I did pretty well.

Fiction posted: The World Walkers: Taithmarin: You: A Single Step (experimenting with second person); The World Walkers: Athare: Electra: Meeting A Rabbit (part 2); The Fae World: Aeron: Creating the Dragons (part 2); The Case of the Counterfeit Enchantments part 4, continued; Aurora’s World: Mirica: A Thief in the House; The Fae World: Mirai: The Curse (part 2); The Fae World: Idwal: How to Change the Past; The Case of the Counterfeit Enchantments part 5; The Fae World: Kristen: Waking Up (part 2); The Fae World: Adrian: The Coffee Shop (part 2); The World Walkers: Athare: Riordan: The Lifetime of a World; The Fae World: Arkal: Art: Freedom; The Case of the Counterfeit Enchantments part 5, continued; The World Walkers: Aerith: The Snow People; The World Walkers: Athare: Tanis: Escaping; Heliopath’s World: Ildieu: The Library; The Case of the Counterfeit Enchantments part 6; AU Thear: Evelyn: A Planet Outside the Window (part 2); The World Walkers: Taithmarin: Zoe: Learning More About the Stormkin; AU Thear: Tabitha: Travelling to Thear (part 2); AU Thear: Cassian: When Fishing Becomes a Rescue; AU Thear: Brooke: First Day on Thear (part 2); The Case of the Counterfeit Enchantments part 7; The World Walkers: AU Taithmarin: Anna: Stepping Onto Another World; AU Donor House: Kestrel: Rescuing Harrison; The Case of the Counterfeit Enchantments part 8; The World Walkers: Unknown World: Malandra: The Talking House; AU Donor House: Cole: Second Morning/Night; The World Walkers: Unknown World: Ginevra: Taking Over; The World Walkers: Athare: Leolin: Why (sponsored); The World Walkers: Unknown World: Paige: Seeing Colour in a Black and White World; The Case of the Counterfeit Enchantments part 8, continued; The Fae World: Rose: Finding the School; Thear: Trey: Trey’s First Encounter with Bast; The World Walkers: Unknown World: Sasha: Making a Decision; The Case of the Counterfeit Enchantments part 8, second continuation; and The World Walkers: Unknown World: Bellona: Arguing with Anatoliy.

The first month of 2013 went well. Slowly I’m beginning to work with James’ shifts, so I’ve been working on the back-log of writing I owe people as I plan to hopefully have that completed by the end of February, although I’m not certain yet because I do have a lot to do. I’m also planning on starting the voters story and the prompters story this month, completing stories for all the prompts I’ve received, posting all 28 stories for February, posting one piece of bonus material a day, and post up more character profiles.

While posting the character profiles I worked on in January I realised how much I still have to work on. I have a lot of characters, some of whom I don’t know as well as others, and I’m trying to write the histories without giving too much away that I may want to write about in the future, which isn’t easy. I think it’s going to end up being something I work on all year, especially as I’ve only posted the beginnings of the profiles.

Character profiles posted: Lucille; Zoe; Mab; Riordan; Astrid; Electra; Lucifer; LexiMarnie; Archer; Astra; Drake; Persephone; Callidora; Archimedes; Anna; Vitali; Cole; and Lloyd.

I completed the first month of my year of stories, although I did post a few stories I previously wrote, as well as posting a couple of Addergoole stories and starting to post the Case of the Counterfeit Enchantments.

Fiction posted: The Case of the Counterfeit Enchantments part 1; The Case of the Counterfeit Enchantments part 2; The Case of the Counterfeit Enchantments part 3; The Case of the Counterfeit Enchantments part 4; Unknown World: Jenelle: Called; The Fae World: Amanda: A Time Travelling Car; The Fae World: Jessica: Stepping Into A Story; The Magi: Callum: Helping the Carne?; The Donor House: Patience: Mortality; The Donor House: Lewis: Charities and Changing the World; The World Walkers: Unknown World: Kelda: Unknown Changes; The World Walkers: Athare: Riordan: The First World Walker; The World Walkers: Unknown World: Ceri: Loving Unwanted Changes; The World Walkers: Athare: Piaras: Talking with Mairin; Aurora’s World: Unknown Kingdom: Xavia: Making a Decision; Afterlife: Reg: The Gravekeeper; Pagan: Cole: Meeting Anna; AU ‘Astral’ World: Amber’s Choices (2); Thear: Bree: Meeting Quinn; Heliopath’s World: Jasper: The Arrival of Kestrel; Addergoole: Ursula: Waking Up At Addergoole; The Magi: Lorna: Leaving the Magi; Kim’s Earth: Poppy: Waking Up; AU The Brotherhood: Dexter: Looking Back; Addergoole: Livi: Walking to Breakfast; The Fae World: Kristin: Waking Up; The Fae World: Talia: Talking to Lenny; The Donor House: Robert: Getting Leah to the House; The World Walkers: Unknown World: Jalen: Safety?; The Donor House: Ethan: One Careful Owner; The Donor House: Linnea: Living with a Vampire?; The Fae World: Sabia: Talking to Idwal; The Fae World: Adrian: Meeting Willow and Alder; Kim’s Earth: Kate: Heading Home; The ‘Astral’ World: Kenner: Becoming a Thief; Kim’s Earth: Skye: Stealing Shoes; and The Fae World: Alaois: Finding the World the Fae Left Behind.

The Advent Story went well, although I misjudged the wordcount and ended up having to write three little bonus stories at the end. They focused on characters that had been introduced during the Advent Story: the British Prime Minister, George; Alder’s sister, Esra: and one of the other elders, Sorrel. I want to write more about all of them and one thing I really want to write about is how George became Prime Minister. (See links for these stories here and all the other stories I posted in 2012.)

I also posted almost all the stories for the October Prompt Session, including finally managing to write about Lucifer. That is something I was very happy about because he’s finally stopped nagging me. I have one more story left to post, for Elizabeth, before which will be posted by the end of the month, along with the stories from the December Prompt Call.

The Sunday Raffles didn’t seem to interest anyone, which is why I ended up trailing off at the end of the month, but I’m going to keep going with the raffle idea for a few months and see if I can make them interest more people. Elizabeth Barrette and MJ Ashford are my two winners, because they actually entered, so send me an email and let me know what prize you’d like.

January is character profile month, so hopefully from tomorrow I’ll be posting full profiles, instead of cheating, and so far I’ve posted a story a day – making it through the year may be more difficult that I think it’s going to be, but I feel good about it right now. This month I’m also planning on having a random number prompt session and I’ll be having a themed prompt session at the end of the month/beginning of February. I’m going to begin posting stories for my bingo cards too, which is going to make January a busy month.

My goals for January are: writing at least 50,000 words, which should be easy enough; post every day; and earn at least £50 in donations – I have to renew my website hosting in March, so I hope to earn that (£60 for two years), and some money for the groceries.

This year was difficult, due to family issues which meant that my partner and I had to find somewhere to live very quickly. It took more time than it we hoped it would, in part because we didn’t have a rental reference, but we finally found a place I think we’re beginning to call home. We are just renting a room as money is tight and yet we’re both in a much better situation that we were when we were living apart. I’m not going to lie and say everything is perfect – I don’t think, considering what life issues my partner and I have already dealt with, our relationship will ever be perfect, but we’re happy most of the time.

Moving meant that I was without access to the Internet for some time. I’m not certain exactly how long it was, but I know I was just beginning to come up with a schedule that worked for me and then everything fell apart. Once I was back online I couldn’t focus as much as I wanted to due to where we were living, the time we were spending looking for somewhere to live, the time we spent moving, and then my partner switched from working at one of his jobs on a full-time basis to the other, which caused even more upheaval. Slowly I’m beginning to work out another schedule, but it’s taking time, and it does mean that I’m behind. I owe stories to a lot of people, there are things I need to go back and make sure I’ve done, and what I want to attempt to do is get as much of that done this month as possible.

There has been some experimentation. Some have worked, the random number prompts, and some haven’t, the auction I held. 2013 is hopefully going to be a year of more experimentation, a year I can truly focus on writing without having to go on an unplanned hiatus, and the year I begin earning properly. I’m going to be posting 500 words a day every day this year, as well as working on the write mores, completing some of my newly created bingo cards, and simply trying to write as many words as possible. This year I should easily be able to write 200,000 words as long as I do post 500 words a day and send off all the stories I currently own to people.

I’m looking forward to 2013. All I can do is hope it’s going to be better than 2012 was, because I was anticipating a better year last year, but it turned out to be a year full of upheaval.

November was a difficult month, due to my partner’s shifts. I think, with time, it is something that I’ll learn to cope with, but the hardest part is when they’re changing daily. At the moment there’s almost a couple of weeks of mostly stability, which is going to be really nice. Unfortunately I won’t know about the end of the month for a while because we only get three weeks of shifts at a time. He will have Christmas Day off, but in the last few years he’s been working Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, so he may not have much of a Christmas. Fortunately neither of us much care about Christmas.

As November was such a difficult month I didn’t get as much fiction posted as I wanted to. I did get some stories posted, thanks to the Crowdfunding Creative Jam (which is well worth checking out on LiveJournal and Dreamwidth), and I have ideas for more stories, which is always good. The only problem is getting them from my brain onto my netbook, so I’m really hoping for some sort of invention that makes it easier.

During November I set up the Never-Ending Prompt Session, which is an experiment in more than one way. I like bingo cards, but I’ve never found on that really works for my fiction, because they’re not specific enough, so I’m working on creating my own using people’s prompts. That’s what the Never-Ending Prompt Session is for. I’ll still be having normal prompt sessions, I’m planning on having a random number prompt session at the beginning of 2013, and the first Never-Ending bingo card will, I hope, as long as I have enough prompts, be created in January 2013.

Fiction posted: Aeron: Creating the Dragons; Adrian: The Coffee Shop; Aidalis: Travelling to Earth; Willow: Travelling to Earth; Liesel: The Griffin’s Choice; Oonagh: A Pregnant Pot; Mirai: The Curse; Claire: Inheriting a Hotel; Amelia: Going Underground; Isibeal: Dreaming; Jillian: Hunted: Annabelle: Eaten Portals; Luna: The Book Portal; Leolin: Stories of Doors; Mackenzie: The Theives’ Hideout; Poem: Shyderwebs (written by Elizabeth Barrette); Leolin: Evolving Magic; Leolin: Changing Doors; Niamh: The Shyder’s Gift; Lance: Landing in Labyrinth; and Rynne: Mirror Travel.

Bonus material posted: Stories in the Fae World Collection.

Goals for November: write at least 50,000 words (I might actually complete this goal this month) and earn at least £50 in donations.

October didn’t go as well as September did. I was planning on posting a lot more bonus material for the Donor House collection, as well as more stories, but it was a difficult month. My partner’s shifts have been all over the place, because they have a new computer system, and my autumn/winter insomnia has returned. I’m hoping that November is going to be better, especially as I’m really looking forward to writing more stories for the Fae World, although I have an interesting shift pattern to look forward to.

Fiction I posted: Rex: Saving Melody (part 2); Nick: Waiting for Alice (part 2); Jean-Luc: First Visit to the Donor House; Cate: First Visit to the Donor House; Alice: Visiting Cate; Dawn: Talking to Lewis; Kisten: First Visit to the Donor House; Dawn: Talking to Lewis (part 2); Rex: Saving Melody (part 3); Nick: Autumn; Jena: Love at First Sight; Lucille: Hot to Moderate (Quiar); Adoni: Swallow the Sky (Quiar – written by Elizabeth Barrette); Cillian: The Autumn Twilight (Beshaki); Carly: Changing Seasons (Aerith); Anna: The Corn King; and Richard: Watching Leaves Fall.

Bonus material I posted: Characters in the Donor House collection; Donor House: Basic Information; Races of the Web (WiP); The Hidden Places; The Doors; The Demons; and Tattoo Magic.

Other posts: Website; Sponsorable Stories Page Updated; Thoughts; Web Fiction Guide; Online Again; November Poll Closed; After Nyne; Thoughts; Advance Warning; General Fund Poll (1); NaNoWriMo; Commissions Page Up; General Fund Poll – part 1; and October Prompts Session.

The prompts session is still ongoing, until tomorrow at midnight. I love having prompts sessions, but I never have many visitors, no matter where I advertise my sessions. I’m not sure what I should do about it. Part of me wants to give up, because it seems like a waste of time, but at the same time I want to continue, because of my love of getting interesting prompts. It’s something I’m going to need to think about, but I will still be having at least one more prompts session before the end of 2012.

Plans for November: posting once a day for the Fae World month; completing NaNoWriMo; posting more Donor House stories; posting more World Walkers stories; and work on outstanding stories.

Goals for November: write at least 50,000 words and hopefull earn at least £30 in donations.

September was a good month for posting, as I did manage to post almost every day, although I didn’t post as many stories as I was hoping to. That’s something I aim to remedy in October, because there are plenty of stories I want to write. I was just focusing on the world building posts, as there was a lot to work on, and it’s still not complete. It wasn’t as good personally, but I think things are looking a little better now. I’m going to have to wait and see.

I downloaded a couple of new plugins that I’m playing with, so there may be some changes happening (and then unhappening, depending on what works and what doesn’t). Hopefully I won’t be updating the site again for a while, apart from normal admin work, but we shall see. There are too many cool plugins to play with and I want my site to be as easy to navigate as possible.

World building posts this month: the World Walkers; Athare; the World Walkers Web, part 2, part 3; Allies and Enemies within the Thirteen Families; World Creators; The Fae and Magic, part 2 (spoilers); The Nox Gadael, part 2; The Alati Felis; Siaral; Aerith; Kniroch; Beshaki; Kankirin; Raenarin; Janoch; Saethera; Gaelom; Labyrinth; Pendragon; Edge; Oracle; Sterling; the Stormkin; Athare Calendar; Witches; Sorceresses; Sorcerers; Life Clay; the Breeders; the Lumen; the Umbra; the Arctus; the Dragons; the Unicorns; the Pegasi; the Phoenixes; the Elemental Birds; Linda; Magics of the Web; and Quiar (written by Elizabeth Barrette). Some are still works in progress, but I’m happy with the work I did.

Stories this month: Riordan: Making Worlds?, part 2; Mira: Leaving Raenarin, part 2; Astrid: Arriving in Little Hill, part 2, part 3; Elodie: Recording Souls; Panthea: Back on Kniroch; Liadan: No Choices; Zoe: Meeting the Nox Gadael (part 2), part 3; Vanessa: Travelling Back in Time?; Jason: Wish Magic; and the Deities World/World Walkers crossover: Watching Mab with Hecate.

Other posts this month: Being the Author: Feelings; Character Profiling; Thinking about World Building; Livejournal; Character Profiles; Credit Count Posted; the World Walkers collection and rambling; the World Walkers Collection Listing; Plans; October; Stories to Write; and Site Update.

This months prompt session was both extremely successful and extremely unsuccessful. I got a donation of £10, which is the most I’ve made during a session, so I’ll be having a poll to work out what I should do with it, but I’m getting less prompters with every session. If anyone has any input as to why I’m getting less prompters it would be really useful, because I thought this one would be more successful due to my new linking policy. I’ll be having another session at the end of this month, with the same policy, and I’m happy to take early prompts from people via email or PM.

The surprise draw has very few entrants this month, so if you commented on my work this month or linked then send me an email. I shall have a surprise present for everyone and it will be a little more personal than other draws.

Plans for October: post once a day for the Donor House month; send off more outstanding stories (didn’t do too well at that in September); post more World Walkers world building and stories; and post more stories in general.

Goals for October: write at least 50,000 words (I have no idea how many words I wrote in September, but I think I must have hit the goal) and get £50, at least, in donations.
