We’ve been in the new place for just over a week now and slowly we’re getting into a routine. It’s taking time, especially as James has a couple of days off this week, but I think by the end of next week we’ll be fully settled in. Right now I’m getting used to having my desk back and my desk chair, which needs oiling because it’s really annoying me at all times by squeaking whenever I move, and it’s been good. I’ve missed being able to work at a designated work space with all my stuff around me, so I can grab what I need when I need it.
Moving out has changed things for both of us. There are both advantage and disadvantages to the choice we made when we finally decided that moving into a room rather than a studio or flat would be easier. I do think we made the right decision for us, although there are difficulties with living in someone else’s house (and dealing with their dogs).
Right now I’m making plans for the next few months, because getting the website working for me is really important. I want to write more Author Asides, so if anyone has anything they’d like me to write about then let me know. Everything I have currently outstanding I want to get finished by the middle of September at the very latest, but I’m aiming for the end of August. This includes the Spotlights, the stories I have listed down, and a few bits of bonus material. In September I want to post more bonus material, focusing on the worlds I’ve created; I’m planning on posting stories for one collection, although I don’t know which one yet; and there will be a prompts session towards the end of the month. October I’ll be focusing on the Donor House collection and posting stories at least three times a week; and I’m having a prompts session for Halloween. November I want to focus on another collection and possibly have a prompts session towards the end of the month. December is the month of my advent story and then I’ll be having a winter solstice prompts session. Throughout this time I’ll also be posting the stories for the Hundred Stories project.
My hope is that I’ll be bringing in about £20 a week by the end of the year, because that’s what I need to cover the food for us. If I manage to hit that amount then there will be bonus words posted. I’m thinking about 5,000 words per £50 I receive, but that’s to be decided if I begin to earn via the website.

Date: 2012-08-17 01:16 am (UTC)I'd enjoy reading about other patterns you've spotted regarding characters or plots, where you get your ideas that don't come from prompts, and what you've learned about writing and crowdfunding over the last year.

That will be SO much fun. I'm looking forward to the other stuff too.

That sounds like a good goal.
