I'll need to start working on the advent story soon, so I'm after some input from readers. It was an idea I came up with when I looked at an advent calender in a supermarket and decided it would be nice to have something like it in story form. From the 1st of December until the 25th I will be posting 1000 words a day. Below are some ideas I had for how I could use these words.

Options

a) One 25000 word story, set in one collection and focusing on one character.

b) Five 5000 word stories, set in one collection and seeing one day from the POV of five different characters

c) Five 5000 word stories, set in one collection and seeing five different days from the POV of one character

d) Five 5000 word stories, set in one collection and seeing five different days from the POV of five different characters

e) Five 5000 word stories, set in five different collections with five different characters

f) Twenty-five 1000 word stories, set in different collections with different characters

g) Other

Comment with which option your prefer and if you choose other then let me know what your idea is. You can also let me know which collection you'd like to see and which character(s).

A) I think it would be fascinating to have a long story written, but that's less useful for promotion because it'll leave out everyone who doesn't like that collection/character. *ponder* Perhaps reserve this for a future advent activity if the audience becomes enamored of one or more favorite characters who could be featured.

B) This would be great if you have an idea for a complicated story that's crucial to a collection, which sprawls out in a way that nobody could see all of it. Frex, Christmas season at the donor house might have some neighbors trying to make community connections while the local church is trying to run the vampires out of town, and donors and their families get dragged into the conflict.

C) This has more potential timewise, in that you could follow a series of related yet distinct events. Maybe even explore a different holiday in each. I could see Anna doing that, to see which might fit the best.

D and E have the best balance of depth and variety. They are somewhat similar to what you've already done, though -- you have stories from all the collections up so that people can see them.

F) would have the most variety, but also be most similar to what you've already done. Probably not ideal.

I think my order of preference would be roughly:
B, C, A, E, D, F
That's dependent on you being able to find a plot that suits the most popular option, because each of those would lend itself to a very different type of story.

For the collection, I would be most interested in Donor House, then Pagans, then Afterlife. The others are more casual interests for me.
