Willow turned to look at Alder and their eyes locked. She almost wished she could see what he was thinking right then, because she had a feeling it was almost exactly what she was thinking. If they wanted the fae to learn about what had happened before, on their home world, then the best way of getting that information out to the largest group of people was a school. The only problem was the fae themselves. Schools weren’t something that had existed before and it would be a massive change for them, but she was starting to really think that being on Earth was going to change the fae for the better.

Although… Willow sighed. Not all the fae would change at all and she knew that there were going to be problems when she advanced the idea to the council. They wouldn’t want humans to know anything about the fae, even though the humans they would be teaching were part fae, and she doubted they’d want the fae to mix with humans at all. Their disapproval wasn’t going to stop it from happening, so she needed to be prepared for what was going to come, because she wasn’t going to bury her head in the sand and pretend that everything was going to go the way she wanted it to.

“What do you suggest?” Willow asked, aiming the question at both George and Alder.

“If you get me that map then you can use one of the schools that I’m certain the places of magic will eventually have within them,” George replied, and the sound of him writing more notes in his notebook followed. “I’m going to need to move the bulk of the humans out of those areas as soon as possible, so it will help with that too.”

Alder nodded. “I’ll get someone on that when we get back and get it to you as soon as I can. Some of it will be nothing more than guesses, but it’s better than nothing. The school, if we are going to use one of the human schools, will probably need adapting, especially if we’re going to be teaching the mixed bloods how to use magic. I’m guessing it will probably be like…” He thought for a moment. “A human boarding school. We’ll need places for people to sleep, work and eat.”

“We’ll need to find teachers too,” Willow said, trying to think of who they could ask. “The healer Finnian might help and his sister.”

“Don’t worry too much, Princess,” Alder answered, smiling. “I have some very good ideas for teachers.”

The smile could have made Willow worry, because she knew that it meant Alder was going to ask his friends, but she couldn’t help smiling back. It seemed like the school was going to be almost totally under their control and that thought made her more happy than she had been since she took over as the stand-in Queen. A weight she’d been struggling under since her father first became ill lifted from her shoulders. Even though she knew things weren’t going to be perfect she was beginning to trust herself.
