Some of the vampires and donors are really upset by this, especially people whose privilege mostly sheltered them from such attacks before. Others are accustomed to it from previous experiences, and point out that bigots will always come up with some reason to pick on people.
Donor House/Halloween: One of the vampires discovers that malt enhances what little sense of flavor they have left. The malted milk balls bought for trick-or-treaters determined to ring their doorbell do not last long after that discovery.
World Walkers/Halloween: In Theas, the equivalent of Halloween is the Night of Guises, held on the first day of the moderate season following the hot season. People sell cheap illusion charms as costumes, which usually last a few hours. Rare, expensive artifacts are available in some areas that cast better costumes. Illusionists cloak themselves in more elaborate guises using their own magic, often competing to see who can create and hold the most phantasmagoric image.
