That sucks.

Based on my understanding ("There is now a Level Zero.") of computers, likely causes include excessive traffic, plug-ins, data overload, and hacking/virus problems. As you said, traffic makes no sense. You might check the program plug-ins you added, and see what size those are, since you put them in recently and now there's a problem. Data overload usually happens with massive amounts of stuff, so it's more likely with photos or video than text; but you do have a lot of text, so check how much storage space your site allows. While you're not an obvious target for attacks, both hacking and viruses can make a system run constantly. Check the firewall/virus protection/etc.
