This bothers me because of the reason given, that having three people in a relationship somehow makes it impossible. Not what this individual wants, okay; not feasible due to the magic, okay. But it's not impossible just because of the number; plenty of people have poly relationships. That was enough to jar me out of the story, which otherwise was pretty interesting.
