August wasn’t a brilliant month for writing, because I found myself doing more and more doggy day care, but that’s something I’m learning to work with. Helping Teresa out means I’m up earlier and I have more time: I just need to learn how to work better while the dogs are here. I’m glad I have as it means there’s less pressure for me to make the website profitable right now, so I can focus on the thing that makes me the most happy – writing. My aim is still to be making the majority of my income via the site, but I have more time to be able to make that happen, and that takes a huge weight off my shoulders. It also means I can focus on longer term planning, instead of always thinking about next month and how I’m going to be able to earn enough to buy the groceries.

James had his CT scan at the end of last month and he’ll be getting the results from that on the 6th of this month, when he has his other scan. I have a feeling they aren’t going to show anything new, but at least the specialist is looking to see if there’s anything he can do. We still don’t know when he’ll be getting back to work – I’m hoping it’s going to be soon, because he hates feeling useless (his words), and the longer he’s off the worse he’s feeling mentally. It doesn’t help that he got some bad news Saturday, as one of his dad’s friends, who James knows well, was in an accident on his motorbike, and last we heard was in an induced coma due to a shattered pelvis.

Then, yesterday was my twenty-fifth birthday. I spent the day with the people I love, so it was a good day, but sometimes I really can’t believe that I’m that old. Most of the time I don’t feel much different to the way I did when I was at school – which was nine years ago now… James and I have been making some plans for the future that I feel good about, especially as I know we’ll always have a place with Teresa and Russell, with the aim being that we’ll be able to rent whichever house they leave behind when they go to France on a permanent basis outright (so we don’t need to share with anyone).
