James was home throughout July, as the pills he’s on aren’t working in the way we were hoping they would, and he’s still on them now. He had an ultrasound yesterday, but that didn’t show anything, so he’s going back to the specialist on Tuesday, when we’re hoping for some idea of what the next step in going to be. Unfortunately I decided, after the ultrasound proved to be utterly useless, to look up what the problem is, which wasn’t the best idea I’ve ever had, as it appears the infection he has may not be an infection and if it is the antibiotics may not kill it. That’s not exactly what I was hoping for, especially as James really wants to go back to work.

As he’s been off for so long he’s beginning to worry about how safe his job is. Legally they can’t fire him for being ill, but that doesn’t really make him feel any better. It took him a long time to find a job in the first place, he lost the first job he found at the end of the trial period, and if he does lose that job we’re going to be left in a very difficult place. Personally I don’t think it will happen. That isn’t going to stop me from planning for it though, so I’ve been working on getting the ebooks ready for publication. Some are closer to being ready than others and I’m going to be starting with the taster ebooks, which will be being sold for £1 each. Anyone who’d like to create a taster ebook can. I should also have the first Case ebook ready soon, then I’ll start working on the collection ebooks.

Right now any donations will really help, because the more I have in reserve the more I can help with the rent and the groceries. We do spend around about £500 a month on both food and rent, which puts us in a better place that we would be if we were renting a whole property, but at the same time it’s not as though we don’t have any outgoings. Keeping this place is important to me. I don’t want to go back to where we were, as neither of us were in a good place mentally, and I honestly don’t think James would be able to cope with living with his dad again.

I did manage to complete the credit count last month. The plan is to do it every month, because I want more people to collect credits, but I know that to have that happen I need to keep on top of it. It wasn’t even as though it took that long. Instead of posting 500 words a day I posted some older stories for some of the collections I feel had less stories available and some of my favourites, even if they were from collections I regularly post stories for, which was great fun for me. I hope you enjoyed seeing some longer fiction during July.
