I could really do with more sleep...
Jul. 15th, 2013 12:18 pmI hate feeling useless as well and I spend most of my time feeling as though I'm not doing enough to help. The problem is I'm doing everything I can, especially as I'm trying to advertise my writing in as many places as I can, and I'd still love to be able to surprise James by paying the rent for one month. I'm just not sure if that's ever going to happen, so maybe I made a mistake by choosing to focus on my writing instead of getting a proper job. I just didn't want to give up my dream without trying to make it into a reality.
So my latest plan is a blog tour. If anyone would like to host a story for me, or knows someone who might, as well as a link to the Beginner's Guide and the download of my crowdfunding brochure, please let me know. My goal is more readers, although I'd love it if I manage to make some income from it as well, especially as I'm thinking of starting an Indie Go-Go campain sometime in the next few months. My decision isn't made yet, but I think it's a good chance to show the world what I do and how imaginative a crowdfunded writer can be. I'm also happy to host any writers or artists at my site, even though I don't have a lot of readers yet.
July 2013 Raffle
Jul. 15th, 2013 03:14 pmJune Raffle Winner: Elizabeth Barrette aka ysabetwordsmith, who wins 8350 words.
Elizabeth won two raffles in a row because she was the only entrant in June’s raffle, which was disappointing. My aim is still five entrants in a month, as I honestly think it’s possible, even though so far I seem to have had very little interest in the raffles.
Enter this raffle in one of three ways: comment on any piece of fiction, no matter when it was published; link to any story, no matter when they were published (this includes Twitter retweets, Facebook shares, and reblogging on Tumblr); or use credits – 2 credits = 1 entry. There no limit on the number of times any one person can enter, so feel free to enter as many times as you like.
The base prize is 5000 words. For every comment I’ll add 100 words; for every link I’ll add 250 words, and if they happen to be Twitter retweets, Facebook shares, or reblogs on Tumblr, I’ll add another 50 words, because I’d love some more of them (although I have a feeling I might be missing some as they’re shared via the website – the easiest way for me to see them is if they’re shared via my Facebook page); and for every entry purchased with credits I’ll add 500 words. If I have five entrants I’ll add a second prize; if I have ten entrants I’ll add a third prize; and if I have twenty entrants I’ll draw three winners who’ll receive a free character adoption or setting rental.
I’ll run the raffle for a week from today, so it will end on the 22nd.
