A more general note: the griffin's speech seems odd to me, fluent language without either knowledge or experience. That level of vocal maturity in a very young creature kept distracting me.
Me also. A little. Then I just decided that gryphons/griffins in this setting are born with full language or some telepathic ability to speak to humans and I just let it go.
Also, to Kajones: She think she's about two hours old but she's not sure. Should be 'She thinkS'.
