New Characters: 15th – 21st April

Petra, for the World Walkers collection. In her grandfather’s will Petra is given a key and this is the first story about the people who use keys as a form of currency. As I’m still working out all the details some things may change between stories.

Yuki, Broc, Sadie, and Landen, for the World Walkers collection. These are some of the fae who were trapped on Kankirin when the door stopped working.

Amy and Jack, for the World Walkers collection. The first story about the people who get left behind and remember when someone they care about is stolen by Taithmarin’s door.

Yuki, Halfrith, and Arabella, for the World Walkers collection. Yuki and Arabella are two of the fae who get trapped on Aerith and Halfrith is the person Yuki manages to contact on Athare to give her information on the situation they’ve found themselves in.

Jessie, Mike, and Lorcan, for the Fae World collection. Possibly not canon, Jessie is a spy who works for Mike and her lover Lorcan hasn’t checked in the way he’s supposed to.

Morwen, Amala, and Jacinda, for the World Walkers collection. Three of the fae who get trapped on Taithmarin.

Lyn and Jane, for the Fae World collection. Historical people who were saved by the fae – connected with the time travel stories.

Grania and Stian, for the World Walkers collection. Pendragon natives – an accident shatters both their lives.

The World Walkers: Gaelom/Avaera: Kiara: Multiplicity

It was the Weavers who came up with the idea. No one was all that surprised, because the Weavers had always been different to the rest of the races created by the fae. There were those who believed it was because the Weavers were the first race to be created, so they were always going to be a little strange, while other thought something had happened during the creation process that made them see more than the other races could. Asking the Weavers didn’t get anyone any answers. Keeping their secrets and the secrets of the fae was one of the things there were best at.

That was why the Weavers came up with the idea. Unlike the other races they had Weavers who could still remember what it had been like to be spirits in jars and then there was the spirit of Halcyone. She still had all the knowledge that she’d gained when she borrowed Eithne’s body, which gave her a better understanding of the fae than any of the others had. It was just difficult to convince any of the other races that what they were suggesting was a good idea, until they travelled to Gaelom Eight, which wasn’t exactly a surprise because Emrys had created the many Gaeloms for a good reason. He understood what the fae were doing in a way the majority of the fae didn’t.

On Gaelom Eight, the world called Avaera by its habitants, they met with a race who understood the worries of the Weavers. The fae, with their lack of understanding, had made one huge mistake, which meant that the spirits of the dead could end up roaming the Web forever. So they set up a ritual where members of the race could invite spirits too share their body, until it was time for their own death. In doing this they changed more than they expected to, but even the Weavers weren’t infallible.

Stories are told of the strange race who house other spirits within their body and of the effect it had on the Web. Other stories are told of the unwilling people who find themselves with another spirit, or more than one, sharing their body and how they’re affected by it. I am one of the race who worked with the Weavers, but I never took part in the ritual. Even though I’d grown up with parents who’d invited other spirits into their bodies my choice was to remain myself. Unfortunately my choice didn’t matter in the end.

He says he’s sorry and I believe him. I can’t not, because I can feel his remorse, and this wasn’t his choice either. Sometimes the power raised during the invitation ritual is too much, so that unwilling participants become the home to spirits who didn’t want a body for one reason or another. That is what I am. Sometimes I wish I’d made the decision to become a Walker before the ritual, because then I wouldn’t be attempting to hide the times when we accidentally switch between who is within and who is without, even though it was him who convinced me it would be good for both of us.
